So, there's a new layout. HURRAH. The code was written by the obviously enormously talented toledan_night (here). I changed the colour scheme, added a new header and background; and I gotta say, I kinda like it. :) Not quite done, though.

The theme is the love child of David Gray's Sail Away With Me and the notion of Kirk and Spock being unambiguously gay for each other. IN SPACE. WHILE BEING PIRATES. Okay, no, that's the cracky version. I think I just love the sea. And Jim looking like he's thinking really hard about Spock. :D

The funny thing is, when it comes to fanfic I almost exclusively read feel-good stuff or at least stories with a happy ending because my love-live consists of reading about non-existent people getting it on but art-wise, especially my own, it mostly ends up being somewhat angsty. Huh. Also, I might change the header to something Dean/Castiel because I've fallen so hard for them and it doesn't look like I'm gonna hit the ground any time soon. PUDDING!!! \o/

In private detecting news, I will FINALLY go and watch Sherlock Holmes on Tuesday. Anyone wanna join? LOOK AT THESE PICS AND TELL ME YOU DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT (AGAIN).

I already made a rough version of a D/C header and I can tell you it's pretty and cracky and HAS OF COURSE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOURS WHICH MEANS I WILL HAVE TO RE-DO THE ENTIRE LAYOUT. But then I will have a Dean/Castiel layout! PUDDING!!! \o/

The header is actually pretty much done (though, I'm pondering adding a rainbow; honestly, that comm changed me), as is the background. But i'll have to adjust the colours in the css and then i'll want to make pretty art and post it and that takes tiiiiiiiiiime. :/ which, cry over it as much as i want, i don't have at the moment. (upcoming exams and stuff...)

that's the plan anyway. don't know if i'll be able to stick to it. honestly, there sooooo much i wanna do and not enough time. D:

This movie really seems to be one of those you can either love or hate with a burning passion. Most of the negative reviews were about feeling screwed with re: Teh Gay.

I will have an opinion of my own in two days.

If you subscribe to the notion that RDJ does not, in fact, play the actual Holmes, but a character that incidentaly has the same name, than yes, they do not. :)

I couldn't care less about teh gay in the film, but the mystery is laughably bad and all the characters are one-dimensional cartoons and we ended up caring about nobody. The film maybe pretty on the outside, but it's soulless and boring. (And yeah, the HoYay is really nothing to write home about, I've seen better.)

I rather enjoyed it too. Though, clearly, the character of Holmes is very different from the books. But as such - as a completely new interpretation - it was indeed very charming. I wasn't even pissed off at the slash vs het theme (if you can call it that) because I could perfectly understand why Law's Watson is... hesitant to commit to Holmes.

I think I'm actually at the point where I can completely separate movies from books. RDJ!Holmes' personality is half RDJ, which is just plain fun. Plus it's like Holmes is asexual in the books, but bisexual in that movie. It works somehow.
Do you like Jeremy Brett!Holmes? I'm hunting that show down right now (with difficulty).

Oh God, there were a couple months last year where I constantly did that thing with my index finger against my mouth - just like Brett!Holmes (it made me feel very smart!). I was absolutely madly in love with him! I still am, but the flame burnt so hot it couldn't last. Plus, he's kinda dead, unlike other clever, witty and gorgeous overlords people.

Shit, now I feel bad about myself. SOMEONE BEING DEAD IS NO REASON TO ABANDON THEM, SELF!
