the first doctor who icons

i gotta say i was touched. i don't know about anyone else but i was touched.
even though the bond between rose and the doctor that really got me in the first season felt only half-true in the second season; especially after the return of the ex-companion in the beginning of said season. mind you, i haven't seen any doctor before the ninth one, so i'm just guessing where i probably shouldn't. but isn't it true that the doctor's had quite a few companions, and once they're gone they're practically forgotten? (see 2.03 school reunion) and he wasn't awfully quick to assure rose that that won't happen to her.
furthermore, is there a Guidebook To When You've Just Changed: #1 You're still the same, but different. (for refence see: Star Trek-DS9: The Trill.) to me it felt like he's too busy coming to terms with being all new to seamlessly resume his
but towards the end of season2 i think they found their own thing. and, to rose's never-ending woe, it wasn't sexual; romantic maybe, in a way, but probably not sexual. traveling through time and space and fighting whatnots and havebeens was both their lives, there was virtually no other life imaginable for both of them. and rose being a mere 21st century earth girl and having the hotties for the doctor clung to him
so after she was swept away by her father type of person, when they lean against the same wall in very different universes, i was very sad indeed.
on a sidenote on fictional tv: daddy's got a timing you just have to respect...

Date: 2008-05-10 01:10 pm (UTC)Ok, the icons... I love the effect on 2, 5, and 7. But (OMG A BUT!!!1) 1, 3, 4 and 6 seem too dark and blueish to me. 8 is good, and I really like 9~

Date: 2008-05-10 06:25 pm (UTC)1, 2 and 4 are actually my faves. 1 especially for the contrast of blue/rose's red lips. (and because she cries so prettily).
the ones you said look too dark i don't find that way (obviously... :) ) but of course there's always a difference in monitor-calibration, eyes and brains. ;)
and 9, well, there's such a sad air to that scene (the doctor asks her for how long she will stay with him; her answer, very casual and self-evidently, is 'forever.') it's rather sad how quick forever can become but a memory.
i'm not entirely unambiguous when it comes to rose; is there a lot of rose-disliking in fandom? i think i haven't read one single doctor who fic yet. shame on me! but i started watching only a couple of weeks ago and am so caught up in sga, you understand..
thanks for you input!

Well, Rose did appear once already in Seaosn 4, so hope is not yet lost!
OneTwo. Words: Ship Wars. Rose-haters/Martha-lovers VS. Martha-haters/Rose-lovers. Insane Rose-fen (HOMG THERE'S ONLY EVER BEEN ROSE FOR HIM, U WHORE!!) VS. The Rest ofthe worldfandom. Und das ist nur was ich gehört habe, LOL. Not active in the fandom either...I try!

Date: 2008-05-10 07:03 pm (UTC)hmm. kinda missed out on the buffyverse shipwars, so maybe i should armor up and join this one. which would especially be fun because i'm not a hard-core shipper. i would fight with my fellow doctor/rose shippers and when we are done with the doctor/martha traitors we could fight among ourselves: ninth doctor/rose vs tenth doctor/rose.
hurrah! on to the fields of Time and Flames!
